Interests and Activities

 I have a passion for all areas of computing, but studying full time at University and working full time does not leave much room for other activities.

When I get a chance I dabble in *nix systems dealing with everything from programming to system administration and network security.

When the weather permits I take the opportunity to participate in water sports, including water skiing and sailing.

    • Contracting to New Zealand Guardian Trust (in NZ)

    Projects included:
    • Converting and reconciling takeon data
    • Automation of FFX Deal confirmations via Lotus faxing
    • Implementation of and training of straight through processing system for equity traders.
    • Automation of data imports into HiPortfolio
  • 1999 - 2001


    • Contracting to Royal & Sun Alliance Financial Services Back Office

    Role was Head programmer on a New Zealand integration project.

    Responsibilities include:
    • Liaising with business users and programmers to get tasks accomplished.
    • Coding of processes
    • Documenting procedures
    • Educating users in the use of the new systems
    • Supporting currently running systems for both New Zealand and Australia

    Projects included:
    • Automation of daily procedures, via such technologies as “keystroking” and “screen scraping”
    • Prototype web interface for reporting information. Production web system between front office and back office, for the entry of cash, bank bills and equity trades.
    • Creating and implementing interface between general ledger system and HiPortfolio
    • Involved in many takeons including Tyndall, Connelly temple, and Royal Automobile Club of WA
